Hale-Bopp, the Andromeda Galaxy, the stars of Andromeda and Perseus,
and the ridges of Unicoi County, Tennessee. March 26-27, 1997,
between twilight and the rising of the Moon.
I made this photo from an overlook high on US23 in Sam's Gap, a
few miles from the Tennessee/North Carolina line. This is an
especially gratifying image: it's a piggy-backed exposure made
while friends gazed through the 5-inch refractor. A lot of good
will is bound up in this frame. (8 minutes, 135mm F2.8, HG400)
Take a look
through
the telescope!
