Sunday Sept 8, the show was extremely active. This prominence
showed changes every time the clouds parted, which made getting a satisfying
sketch frustrating. It seemed clearly in an eruptive stage when first
seen about 11:00-11:30 EDT, compared to yesterday's much lower and more
complex appearance (not shown).

By 2:00 PM EDT, the thin "scaffolding" to the left had disappeared as had
the bright "ball" suspended near its tip. Had this and other material
flowed into the brighter, bulkier portion of the prominence? It had
become very complex, with a wide range of faint and bright, sharp and
nebulous detail connected to the rim by both bright and faint "legs". Its
appearance changed radically due to seeing and the exact state of tune of
the filter.

By 4:00 PM EDT, this was the only clearly visible remnant, but by 7:00
it had thickened up again! [Illustrations: 1996 Sept 8, 11:00 - 16:00 EDT]
