I assume the dark filaments and vague dark mottling were visible earlier.
The darkest part of the filament shown here (near its insertion
into the chromosphere?) caught my eye. And with that vision "for seed"
the rest of these markings were easy.
Is this a simple prominence eruption I was lucky enough to witness? Or
was it something larger -- visible surf from a coronal mass ejection?
