Striations in Hale-Bopp's Ion Tail -- March 29, 1997

Comet Hale-Bopp against the stars of Perseus.

This is a 20 minute exposure on Fuji HG-400 behind a 5-inch F6 Astro-Physics refractor working at F4.5 using an A-P photo-visual tele-compressor and a Lumicon Minus-Violet filter. I held the cross-hairs of a 3-inch F16 guidescope on the comet's nucleus "by hand" using a Losmandy G-11 mount. (How many hyphens can you use in two sentences?)
